Dish Network cuts printing costs by 30% with SATO

Dish Network, a major satellite television provider, sought a more efficient and environmentally friendly method for handling inbound shipments of returned equipment. Their challenge was to replace costly and impractical printing solutions, including inkjet and laser printers, while improving process visibility and supporting their corporate green initiatives. They partnered with vendor Sato to implement a solution using the Sato GY412 two-sided thermal printer.

Sato provided its GY412 2ST printer, which enabled Dish Network to print proprietary information on both sides of a single label. This solution eliminated the need for secondary printers and consumables like ink and toner, reducing printing costs by 30% or more. The result was greater operational visibility for workforce planning and the ability to dynamically steer product shipments. For the customer, the externally applied label simplified the return process. Sato's solution proved so effective in a pilot program that it was expanded across the operation.
