A SAS Case Study
Ziekenhuis Gelderse Vallei, a Dutch hospital that shifted to a results-driven, unit-based organization, needed a way for individual departments to measure performance and plan ahead. Until recently analytics lived mainly in finance and floor staff relied on BI teams for reports, limiting timely decision making and deeper analysis of care processes.
The hospital expanded its data warehouse and deployed SAS Visual Analytics, adding external sources such as socioeconomic and meteorological data so clinicians can self-serve reports and run predictive analyses. Early adoption is helping teams monitor KPIs (waiting lists, length of stay, treatment volumes), predict events like respiratory complaints from weather patterns, improve care quality and identify cost reductions as analytics is rolled out across the organization.
