A SAS Case Study
WFR Middle School (north of Raleigh, NC) faced a challenge identifying which eighth-graders could succeed in algebra. The school had relied on teacher recommendations and traditional grading practices that often reflected homework completion or bias rather than students’ true readiness, which limited access—especially for economically disadvantaged students.
WFR adopted SAS EVAAS for K–12 to predict students’ readiness from multiple years of test data, placed students using probability thresholds, and provided targeted instruction and supports. The result: algebra enrollment tripled and the school maintained a 97% passing rate on the state Algebra I exam while creating a data-driven culture and expanding the advanced-math pipeline.
