Aviva Canada faced the aftermath of the June 2013 Calgary floods—100,000 people evacuated, multiple neighborhoods inundated and more than $1.7 billion in insured losses—and needed a way to quickly triage thousands of claims and help vulnerable customers recover. Executives required up-to-the-minute visibility into incoming claims and geographic impact to prioritize response and resources.
Aviva implemented a SAS Visual Analytics catastrophe dashboard that geocoded claims and provided real-time reporting and data exploration. The solution enabled faster claim fulfillment, improved customer retention, better fraud detection, dynamic executive reporting and more agile pricing decisions, while giving analysts a rapid “chat” style workflow to uncover insights and monitor models.
