SAS courses and certification exams help position veterans for success

The Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University helps service members, veterans and their families transition to civilian life by providing free career training, entrepreneurship education, professional certifications (including SAS programming courses) and job-placement support. As the institute grew—with more programs, staff and stakeholders—it faced fragmented data in silos, escalating and more sophisticated reporting requests, and a need to become more evidence-based and data-driven to measure and improve impact.

IVMF implemented the SAS platform—including SAS Viya, Data Management Studio and SAS Visual Analytics—to consolidate data into a single warehouse, deliver interactive reports, and broaden access to analytics across staff and partners. The shift produced faster, more precise insights, significant time savings for reporting and evaluation teams, improved decision making and program performance, and helped IVMF better serve tens of thousands of transitioning service members and families.
