A SAS Case Study
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency uses SAS to keep Dutch agriculture viable by improving enforcement of fertilizer policy. Faced with 80,000 agricultural holdings and data in many formats (Excel, Access, Oracle and proprietary systems), the agency needed a way to combine large, diverse datasets, quickly adapt queries, target inspections through risk analysis, and produce EU‑auditable reports for more than €1 billion in grants and 100+ annual reports.
By deploying SAS Data Integration and SAS Business Intelligence, the agency unified data, created a data‑availability portal, and ran risk models and what‑if scenarios to inform policy. The solution made inspection selection about 10 times more effective, drove efficiencies and cost reductions in inspections, improved policy impact forecasting, and strengthened accountability and reporting to the EU.
