A SAS Case Study
A federal agency that runs large annual, quarterly and monthly surveys (millions of records) partnered with BNL Consulting and SAS to modernize its legacy IT and address creeping performance issues, an outdated interface, and heavy developer dependence. The agency wanted a service‑oriented, extensible architecture to enable point‑and‑click self‑service analytics, improve interactive and batch survey processing, and integrate data across the enterprise.
BNL migrated the existing SAS environment to a modern platform, implementing SAS Business Intelligence and SAS Grid Computing as a hub in a hub‑and‑spoke architecture and training staff to manage the system. The upgrade preserved core processes while delivering one‑click web reporting (cuts turnaround from weeks to minutes), faster parallel processing, better resource utilization, lower infrastructure costs, improved scalability and data quality, and reduced silos.
