A SAS Case Study
Interamerican, Greece’s largest private insurer serving more than 1 million customers, faced the challenge of overhauling its data practices to comply with the EU GDPR while protecting vast amounts of personal data and maintaining performance and customer trust. The company needed to build accountability, strengthen security processes, and embed privacy‑by‑design across people, tools and processes without disrupting daily business or analytics.
Interamerican implemented SAS for Personal Data Protection and a GDPR program that created roles (data protection officer, data stewards), mapped data lineage, tightened authorization, added masking/encryption and a breach‑management framework, and trained staff through POCs and pilots. The result is a stronger, compliant data governance platform that preserves business analytics, enables new customer services (online portfolio access and preference management), and reinforces customer trust and competitive advantage.
