Case Study: Hershey Intermediate achieves measurable student growth and challenges high achievers with SAS EVAAS for K-12

A SAS Case Study

High-performing schools remove the barrier between good and great

Hershey Intermediate School, part of the high-performing Derry Township School District in Pennsylvania, wanted to move from “good” to “great” by improving academic growth for underperforming students while keeping high achievers challenged. The school needed a reporting and analysis system that measured student growth—not just proficiency scores—to guide timely interventions and avoid complacency.

Hershey implemented SAS EVAAS for K‑12 (PVAAS) to predict student outcomes, drive intervention planning, and inform instruction throughout the year. As a result, teachers can proactively adjust teaching before state tests, the school documents measurable year-end growth, grading shifted to emphasize mastered skills, and staff gained the timely data needed to boost student trajectories and college-readiness.
