A SAS Case Study
Nippon Paper, a diversified Japan-based manufacturer, struggled with fragmented information locked in four separate data warehouses and mismatched BI systems, which produced inconsistent “versions of the truth.” Many employees found the existing tools hard to use, limiting adoption and leaving the company without a reliable, enterprise-wide view for decision making.
Nippon Paper replaced its disparate systems with SAS Business Analytics and SAS Enterprise Guide, consolidating data, ETL and reporting on a single platform and making reports available via a shared SAS portal and familiar Excel interfaces. The rollout expanded access to about 2,000 users, enabled near-real-time sales insights and richer customer conversations, earned internal accolades, and delivered tangible savings (35 million yen in year one with projections well above the original 150 million yen five-year target).
