Case Study: Atradius achieves 60% automated underwriting to speed and improve credit insurance decisions with SAS Credit Scoring

A SAS Case Study

Preview of the Atradius Case Study

Faster and more consistent credit insurance assessments

Atradius’ Instalment Credit Protection (ICP) unit—covering banks and lenders in Belgium and Luxembourg and processing roughly 15,000 credit insurance requests per month—faced rapidly rising retail loan requests that increased underwriter workload, stress and error risk. The challenge was to streamline processing while preserving existing credit decision criteria and consistency.

Atradius implemented SAS Credit Scoring, which automatically processes case, internal client and National Bank data to accept or refuse about 60% of individual requests in seconds and routes the remaining 40% to underwriters with suggested scores. The automation reduced stress and processing time, freed underwriters to focus on complex cases, and delivered custom reporting that improved risk management and pricing decisions; Atradius plans to expand automation and add a loss-recovery model.
