A SAS Case Study
The Delaware State Police faced a growing need to solve violent and property crimes faster despite limited leads—often only a vehicle description, a nickname or partial information. Their challenge was to access and correlate records across agencies quickly so even less-experienced officers could identify suspects and prevent further harm.
They implemented the SAS® Memex Platform (SAS for Law Enforcement) to ingest and index collision reports, citations, incident documentation, corrections data, firearms forensics and more, enabling structured and unstructured searches (including nicknames) and visual patterning. The platform produced rapid results: cases that once took weeks or stakeouts were solved in minutes, resources were used more efficiently, interagency collaboration improved, and public safety was strengthened.
