Case Study: DBS Bank achieves 80% fewer ATM cash-outs with SAS

A SAS Case Study

Preview of the DBS Bank Case Study

DBS Bank has 80 percent fewer cash-outs, improves process efficiency by 33 percent

DBS Bank, Singapore’s largest bank, faced a challenge in managing cash demand across more than 1,100 ATMs, where cash-outs hurt customer experience and increased operational costs. To address this, DBS used SAS forecasting and optimization tools, including SAS Forecast Server and SAS/OR, to better predict withdrawal patterns and plan ATM reloading more efficiently.

With SAS, DBS created an optimized replenishment model that scheduled reloads at non-peak times and reduced unnecessary trips and excess cash. The results included an 80% reduction in cash-outs, a 20% drop in replenishment trips, a 40% reduction in cash returned to the bank, and more than 30,000 hours of customer wait time eliminated annually.
