A SAS Case Study
San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health set out to reduce stigma and improve access to care but faced fragmented data, misconceptions about who seeks help, and uncertainty about where services were most needed. To make better decisions for the community, the department needed a way to collect, manage and analyze diverse program and consumer data to reveal true patterns of service use and rehospitalization.
By implementing SAS data management and advanced analytics, DBH integrated disparate data sources, mapped service demand, identified rehospitalization drivers and corrected false assumptions about access. The insights led to targeted outreach, smarter placement of services, faster decision-making, higher clinician morale and stronger credibility with partners, helping the county increase access, awareness and quality of behavioral health care.
