A SAS Case Study
CWB Financial Group (Canadian Western Bank) set out to become an advanced international ratings‑based bank (AIRB) to free up capital and strengthen credit risk management, but needed to meet OSFI regulatory requirements and BCBS 239 data principles. The bank identified inconsistent, low‑quality data as the key barrier—without reliable data its risk models and compliance efforts would be ineffective.
CWB implemented SAS Banking Analytics Architecture alongside its enterprise data warehouse to verify, transform and govern data, centralize and automate business checks, and build an extensible data model. The solution provided a compliance-ready data foundation that accelerates AIRB efforts and profitability prospects, streamlines reporting and risk management, and enables future initiatives such as 360-degree customer views and enhanced analytics.
