A SAS Case Study
Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), a government-backed lender that guarantees loans for Malaysian SMEs, needed to modernize risk management across credit, market and operational risks. The company was overly reliant on manual, externally produced reports and fragmented application data, and required integrated data management, tracking, risk indicators and automated computations to improve reporting, controls and capital adequacy assessments.
CGC implemented SAS Governance and Compliance Manager and automated risk computations, consolidating data into a single version of the truth. The integrated solution cut manual reporting, freed analysts to focus on analysis, improved decision support for senior management, and enabled Basel II–aligned capital adequacy calculations. Outcomes included higher productivity, stronger governance (workflow approvals, residual-risk tracking) and better risk-informed decision making.
