Case Study: CAP Index achieves millions in security savings with SAS Analytics

A SAS Case Study

Preview of the CAP Index Case Study

CAP Index, Inc. uses analytics to help companies choose the right amount of security

CAP Index is an analytics firm in Exton, Pennsylvania that forecasts local crime risk so businesses can choose the right level of security. Using demographic and crime data across the U.S., Canada and the U.K., it answers practical questions—should you open a store, add lobby guards, or install a perimeter fence—helping clients avoid unnecessary security spending and reduce exposure to loss.

CAP Index uses SAS Analytics to build predictive models that assign any address a 0–2,000 risk score (100 = U.S. average) and produce maps extending three to six miles around locations. Its forecasts and benchmarking tools are used by 81 of the Fortune 100, enabling retailers, insurers, delivery and payment firms to make objective, data-driven security and underwriting decisions and save millions in unnecessary expenses.
