A SAS Case Study
BMC Software, a long-time Siebel CRM user, struggled with inconsistent and duplicate customer records entered by different employees, which hurt sales productivity, customer communication and the accuracy of forecasts. The company needed a way to codify and enforce data-quality rules in both batch and real-time environments to create a single, reliable view of the customer.
BMC implemented a data quality and integration program using SAS Data Management (DataFlux) to design and enforce matching, deduplication and address-validation rules via a service-oriented architecture. Real-time checks and the ability to match on primary and secondary addresses eliminated duplicates, improved outreach and pipeline reliability, and gave managers more confidence in sales forecasts—helping BMC better meet customer demands and expand into new markets.
