Analytical tools for more effective research

BioGrid Australia is a small non-profit that links anonymised patient data from hospitals and research institutions into a federated platform. Their challenge was making disparate data sources securely and reliably available for multi‑site research while protecting patient privacy and navigating complex collaboration agreements.

By using SAS Enterprise Guide and other SAS tools to standardise and present data from Excel, databases and bespoke systems, BioGrid enabled fast, secure cross‑site analysis. This capability powered studies—such as an analysis of 1,200 bowel cancer patients from 19 sites—that influenced a $50M government extension of the national screening program, streamlined research workflows, attracted pharmaceutical interest and opened the door to broader co‑morbidity investigations.
