Apartment List, a fast-growing rental marketplace, faced a time-consuming, manual onboarding process built on spreadsheets, Google Docs and Slides that gave little visibility into progress and required significant administrative effort. To support rapid headcount growth and improve consistency, Apartment List implemented Sapling’s purpose-built onboarding platform in January 2017.

Sapling worked with Apartment List to consolidate fragmented systems into structured onboarding plans and a company-branded portal, using Sapling’s Workflow and Email features to track tasks across stakeholders. The solution automated an average of 72 workflows per new hire, saved an estimated 140 internal emails, and cut People Operations management time per new hire from 6 hours to 90 minutes (about a 4.5-hour savings).
