A SAP Case Study
Walgreens Boots Alliance, the global pharmacy retail giant, was facing capacity constraints and the complexity of moving its massive 100-terabyte SAP landscape from on-premises systems to the cloud as part of its digital transformation. The company relied on SAP for core retail operations such as finance, supply chain, and inventory management, and needed a more scalable, reliable platform to support better customer service.
SAP helped Walgreens Boots Alliance migrate to Microsoft Azure in a carefully planned project that moved nearly 100 terabytes of data in less than a day, with a 20-hour final cutover and 750 virtual machines across 15 SAP modules. The result was improved performance, more centralized data, and greater cloud capacity, enabling Walgreens Boots Alliance to bring 600 to 800 stores online per month, improve inventory visibility, reduce hardware investment, and deliver a better in-store and omnichannel customer experience.
