Using SAP Business Integrity Screening at Achmea in their Core Insurance Platform

Achmea, the largest financial services provider in the Netherlands, needed a better way to detect risk, compliance issues, and fraud across its insurance customer journey. Working with SAP Business Integrity Screening (SAP BIS), Achmea set out to connect all insurance products to a common framework and embed screening into underwriting, claims, and portfolio controls.

SAP implemented SAP BIS to automate fraud detection, reduce false positives, and support both business rules and machine learning models. Achmea has since built over 400 detection rules and around 80 active strategies for more than 200 users, shifting fraud detection from mostly manual to 60% automated and cutting investigation effort from 75% to 25%; the company also reported substantial annual savings growth in claims after the SAP solution was deployed.
