A SAP Case Study
Shimano, the bicycle and fishing equipment manufacturer, needed to modernize a fragmented integration landscape that relied heavily on FTP, lacked governance and monitoring, and made customer onboarding slow and costly. With more than 12 million messages per year and over 20,000 customers, the company turned to SAP and SAP BTP to address security, reliability, scalability, and data-silo challenges.
SAP implemented SAP Integration Suite on SAP BTP, including Cloud Integration, API Management, Integration Advisor, Cloud Identity Services, Workflow Management, and Business Application Studio to standardize integrations, improve monitoring, and secure onboarding. The results included new scalable interfaces, customer onboarding time cut from 8 to 4 weeks, and major cost savings versus an external broker model—reducing estimated transaction cost from €0.65 to €0.02 per message, with 3.5M+ monthly integration messages supported live.
