TasNetworks Digitalizing Asset Inspections While Strengthening Safety Culture

TasNetworks, the Australian electricity network operator, faced delays and business risk because its existing asset inspection software was not tailored to pole inspections and required too much manual data entry and back-office processing. Working with SAP and partner Bourne Digital, the company used SAP Business Technology Platform to modernize its inspection process and better support safety, compliance, and field workers.

SAP helped TasNetworks launch a mobile app called Aspect that combines SAP ERP data with geospatial data from Esri ArcGIS, gives inspectors a map-based view of work, and embeds job-risk assessments directly into each work order. The result was faster syncing, stronger auditability, improved data quality, and a 100% reduction in back-office data processing effort, with another reported 25% reduction in related processing effort.
