Schwarz IT Enabling Better Customer Service Through AI-Driven Demand Planning

Schwarz Group’s technology partner Schwarz IT, supporting Kaufland stores across Europe, faced the challenge of improving demand and replenishment planning amid rapidly changing consumer behavior, complex forecasting for short-shelf-life products, and the need to scale reliable replenishment across more than 1,500 stores. To address this, Schwarz IT turned to SAP solutions, including SAP Customer Activity Repository and SAP Forecasting and Replenishment.

SAP implemented an AI-driven, self-learning forecasting approach that increased planning transparency and forecasting accuracy, improved responsiveness to customer demand and weather changes, and helped reduce food waste. The result was better product availability, fewer out-of-stocks and less waste, with more than 32 million product-location combinations forecasted and replenished every day.
