Sailing Team Germany, an initiative supporting the country's Olympic sailors, was looking to overcome two challenges: gaining a competitive edge through data analysis and making the complex sport easier for the public to understand. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor SAP to develop advanced technological solutions for both performance and broadcasting.

SAP implemented its SAP Sailing Analytics software, developed on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform, to collect and analyze real-time data from boats and the race course. They also provided the SAP Business ByDesign solution for back-office operations. This partnership provided sailors with push-button performance analysis, significantly increasing their time for training. It also equipped commentators with real-time data, dramatically improving race broadcasts and public understanding of the sport.
