Poste Italiane Eliminating Legacy ERP and Custom Code to Cut Operational Costs

Poste Italiane, Italy’s postal and logistics provider, was struggling with seven heavily customized legacy ERP systems across 20 group companies, which drove high maintenance costs, low automation, and fragmented data. To support its “One ERP” digital transformation, Poste Italiane turned to SAP, using SAP S/4HANA and SAP ActiveAttention to create a future-ready, unified ERP foundation.

SAP implemented SAP S/4HANA on Microsoft Azure, centralizing administrative, accounting, and management data and harmonizing business processes across the group. The results included a 90% reduction in custom code, 20% improvement in operational efficiency, faster onboarding of new companies from 10 weeks to about 4 weeks, 70% automation of control processes, and about €2 million in yearly savings.
