A SAP Case Study
The Province of Nova Scotia (PNS) faced a challenge with its unwieldy and rapidly growing data volumes, which were compromising the performance and stability of its mission-critical SAP ERP application. To mitigate risk during a major software upgrade and improve its overall IT operations, the government organization engaged SAP Enterprise Support services for assistance.
SAP implemented its data volume management service, assisted by partner IBM, to create and execute a database reduction plan. This solution successfully reduced the data volume of the core application from 2,000 GB to 600 GB, resulting in a 70% reduction in storage space and a 70% improvement in backup performance. For SAP customer PNS, this led to lower hardware costs, a more responsive software landscape, and provided the foundation to explore innovation with the SAP Cloud Platform.
