Case Study: U.S. Defense Logistics Agency achieves faster warehouse modernization with SAP

Pioneering innovation and resiliency for the federal supply chain

The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, a key logistics arm of the U.S. military, needed to modernize its aging SAP Warehouse Management System to meet the SAP Business Suite 2027 end-of-service deadline and improve support for warfighters. Working with SAP and partner C5MI, the agency faced the challenge of updating a complex, mission-critical supply chain system without disrupting operations.

SAP helped the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency complete the first SAP S/4HANA migration in the Department of Defense, unifying business processes and enabling real-time analytics with machine learning and advanced automation tools. The project was completed in half the expected time, reached 86 of 125 sites ahead of the 2027 deadline, and delivered a 3x productivity increase and 25% improvement in operational efficiency.
