Nikola Streamlining Procurement and Materials Management with Modern, Automated Approach

Nikola, the electric- and hydrogen-powered truck maker, needed a more efficient way to manage procurement, inventory, and materials planning as it scaled its manufacturing operations. Its previous ERP setup was inefficient and lacked strong support for automotive and manufacturing processes, making it harder to turn full truck design plans into accurate material requirements.

SAP, working with Illumiti, implemented RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition to automate and modernize Nikola’s procurement and materials management. The solution improved procurement and inventory proficiency, strengthened design and manufacturing execution capabilities, and created a foundation for future SAP products. Nikola completed the implementation in 4 months, with 100% of systems implemented following best practices.
