A SAP Case Study
The National Hockey League (NHL) partnered with SAP to enhance the game on and off the ice, while also supporting its sustainability goals. By using SAP HANA Cloud and related SAP apps, the NHL needed a way to process massive volumes of real-time puck and player tracking data, improve coaching insights, and give fans and hockey operations teams better access to analytics and critical information.
SAP implemented real-time data processing and mobile applications including the SAP-NHL Coaching Insights app, the SAP-NHL Front Office App for iPad, and the NHL.com/stats experience powered by SAP HANA Cloud. The results included millisecond analysis of game data, faster tactical decisions for coaches, a unified view for roster and salary cap management, and a stats platform that attracted over 100 million fans in a season.
