L&T Energy Hydrocarbon faced major challenges in managing spare parts and inventory manually across 100+ locations, with 70,000+ parts and complex planning needs such as KIT, supersession, and service meter reading forecasts. To improve forecast accuracy and reduce errors, the company worked with SAP using SAP IBP TOPSPIN to modernize demand and inventory planning.

SAP implemented a solution combining automated forecasting, multi-echelon inventory optimization, what-if analysis, and detailed KPI reporting. The results included about 75% forecast accuracy, over 95% First Pick Rate, inventory days held at 100–120, and less than 1% obsolescence on annual purchases, improving service levels, efficiency, and cash flow.
