A SAP Case Study
OMDS, an imaging technology leader in Tokyo, Japan, needed to separate its manufacturing subsidiary from its former parent company’s production system during a spin-off. With limited time and resources before a Transition Service Agreement expired, OMDS turned to SAP Services and Support and its company code cleanup and deletion service to securely remove confidential historical data while keeping business processes running smoothly.
SAP’s Data Management and Landscape Transformation (DMLT) team coordinated the cleanup and deletion with OMDS’s data-center relocation plan, using a system copy to move the new environment and then deleting the former parent’s data without disrupting testing or go-live activities. The project was completed before the TSA deadline, cut data records by about 70%, and deleted 2.7 billion records within 12 hours, helping OMDS establish a stable new production system with minimal business disruption.
