A SAP Case Study
Pfizer, the multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, needed to strengthen its governance, risk, and compliance processes as it expanded. The company wanted to move away from multiple market-based audits and manual, error-prone controls work across more than 100 sites, 580 segregation-of-duties checks, and hundreds of reviewers. SAP was selected to support Pfizer’s shift to a more centralized, data-driven control environment.
SAP implemented SAP Process Control, SAP Access Control, and SAP Analytics Cloud to automate controls, identify exceptions with analytics and machine learning, and streamline review by exception. As a result, Pfizer reduced audit testing effort and manual inconsistencies, cut controls reviewers from 200 to 3, eliminated manual controls performance, and enabled monitoring across more than 300 organizations with over 10,000 annual controls executions.
