Tauranga City Council, responsible for serving 160,000 citizens in New Zealand, needed to replace a 25-year-old, highly customized legacy ERP that was inefficient, error-prone, and difficult to maintain. The council wanted a single source of truth to streamline operations and protect critical revenue processes, so it turned to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition.

SAP implemented a phased migration of finance, leasing, and rates management, with SAP partners Gravity IT and Accenture supporting a parallel run of old and new systems to reduce disruption. The results included 99.96% matching of rating valuations, 87% overall satisfaction among rates experts, and major efficiency gains such as installment calculations completed in 25 minutes instead of 2.5 hours and direct debit recalculations cut from about five days to 2.5 hours.
