How did SAP’s industry cloud help a new COVID-19 vaccine plant ramp up production quickly and efficiently

Novavax Inc. needed to rapidly bring a newly acquired vaccine plant in the Czech Republic online during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the facility relied heavily on paper and spreadsheet-based processes. The company also had a small calibration team that needed to manage data from thousands of digitalized machines while meeting strict life sciences and manufacturing requirements.

SAP, working with partner NTT DATA Business Solutions and its it.calibration industry cloud solution, helped Novavax automate and standardize calibration processes and integrate them with SAP ERP and SAP Integration Suite. The result was near-complete automation for around 3,500 machines, improved traceability and data quality, and an estimated 71% reduction in calibration execution time plus 50% less downtime.
