How Did Digitalized Invoice Processing Open the Door to Time-Saving Intelligent Technology

Phoron, a Vienna-based IT consulting firm serving customers in more than 40 countries, needed a more modern and affordable way to manage accounting and invoice processing. Its existing accounting tool lacked collaboration and exception-handling capabilities, and Phoron wanted a solution that could also support future technologies like machine learning. SAP, together with Finmatics GmbH, helped address this need using SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

SAP implemented automated accounting and invoice-processing capabilities that included data extraction, purchase-order reconciliation, account classification, and exception handling. The result was greater efficiency, a better user experience, and cost savings from automatically identifying invoices eligible for EU VAT returns. SAP also helped Phoron achieve 100% automated data extraction, account classification, and VAT checks, plus 80% automated bookings in accounts payable processing.
