How Can IoT Technology Help Turn a Famous Resort Town into a Smarter City

The City of Antibes sought to improve its public infrastructure and safety for residents and visitors. Its initial challenge was to make its municipal water system more efficient and dependable while also seeking a better way to ensure public safety. The city partnered with vendor SAP to address these opportunities using digital innovation and IoT solutions.

Working with SAP, Antibes implemented a solution using the SAP Leonardo digital innovation system and SAP Cloud Platform. The system used sensors to monitor the water network, with data analyzed to anticipate breakdowns and optimize maintenance, resulting in significant cost savings. A highly secure data transmission system was also developed. Furthermore, the project expanded to use IoT for public safety, analyzing video feeds to detect abnormal crowd movement. The results included a more efficient water distribution system, real-time intrusion detection, and the establishment of a model for smart city applications.
