How Can Digitalized Procurement Support Rapid Organizational Expansion

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) needed to scale rapidly while replacing paper-based procurement and contingent labor workflows with a digital, compliant, and integrated approach. To support a 2,000-strong supplier network and a projected 250% increase in contingent labor, LANL turned to SAP, using SAP Ariba and SAP Fieldglass solutions along with Ariba Network and SAP Signature Management.

SAP implemented the digital procurement foundation with support from SAP Services and Support, helping LANL standardize processes, improve visibility, and streamline purchasing and supplier management. The results were significant: commercial transactions under US$250,000 dropped from 30 days to less than 8 hours, workflows became more than 18 times faster, and 100% of spend is now managed using SAP Ariba solutions, enabling better compliance, faster payments, and stronger supplier relationships.
