A SAP Case Study
GKN Off-Highway Powertrain, a leading European manufacturer of drive shafts and gearboxes, faced the challenge of digitizing its field service processes. They sought to move from simply selling products to selling performance as a service, which required a solution to support the entire service lifecycle from sales to billing and provide comprehensive insight into customer data. To accomplish this, they partnered with vendor SAP and its SAP® Hybris® Service Cloud solution.
SAP implemented the Service Cloud, which provided the technological foundation for GKN's new service-based business model. The solution gave employees mobile access to information and simplified processes with intuitive interfaces. As a result, GKN established a new business model billed on performance data and created a foundation for future innovations like condition monitoring and artificial intelligence. The project was completed in 13 months, fully digitizing their service processes.
