Hilti future-proofs its IT environment using RISE with SAP on Azure

Hilti Group, a global supplier for the construction industry, wanted to future-proof its IT environment as the industry accelerated toward digitalization. The company needed to move its on-premises SAP landscape, including its business-critical ERP system, to the cloud to improve resilience, reduce downtime, and prepare for growth. SAP and Microsoft Azure were selected to support Hilti’s cloud-first strategy through RISE with SAP on Azure.

SAP helped Hilti migrate its SAP environment to RISE with SAP on Azure in less than a year, with the implementation completed in three waves between October 2021 and July 2022. The move enabled Hilti to scale its S/4HANA deployment from 12 TB to 24 TB in under six months, launch new initiatives like Nuron without disruption, and expand to more than 130 Azure services. As a result, Hilti increased cybersecurity and resilience, reduced dependence on its on-premises datacenter, and moved closer to shutting it down entirely.
