Case Study: University Health Network achieves real-time data-driven innovation with SAP

A SAP Case Study

Preview of the University Health Network Case Study

Harnessing data and driving innovation for patient care, education and research

University Health Network (UHN), Canada’s largest hospital network, needed a more flexible and sophisticated business foundation to support growth, real-time data access, and automation across procurement, supply chain, accounts payable, finance, and research. Its legacy ERP platform could not easily integrate with other clinical and business systems or keep up with the complexity of its operations, so UHN turned to SAP and related SAP services such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Ariba, SAP Business Network, SAP BTP, and SAP Fiori.

SAP implemented an integrated, cloud-based platform that unified data, enabled real-time reporting and analytics, and automated key processes across procurement and finance. The results included 6,000 hours saved annually in manual work, a 50% increase in automated purchase orders, 87% on-time payment of vendor invoices, $54 million of products scanned and delivered in real time each year, and $1 million in operational cost savings, helping UHN improve efficiency, resource allocation, and patient care.
