A SAP Case Study
The City of Buenos Aires, a major public sector organization, faced significant challenges with annual flooding due to torrential rains and an aging infrastructure. The city needed to manage over 700,000 public assets, prevent property damage and loss of life, and improve its response to service requests. To address this, they turned to vendor SAP for a solution.
SAP implemented a solution utilizing the SAP HANA platform to analyze real-time sensor data from storm drains and weather reports, while the SAP Mobile Platform was used to monitor maintenance tasks and contractor performance. This allowed the city to keep its 30,000 storm drains clear and achieve an 80% response rate to infrastructure issues. The measurable impact was profound: after implementation, the city experienced zero floods despite three days of torrential rain, resolving over 280,000 complaints annually and greatly improving public safety.
