FortisBC: Improving Financial Reporting Performance with SAP ActiveEmbedded Services

FortisBC, a utilities company, was experiencing major performance issues with a critical asset history sheet program during its month-end financial closings. The slow performance, which had been an issue since 2013, threatened timely reporting to its parent company and regulators. To address this, FortisBC engaged SAP and utilized its SAP ActiveEmbedded services to troubleshoot the problem.

The SAP team performed a Continuous Quality Check for its Business Process Performance Optimization service to identify the root cause. Collaborating with SAP's software development team, they then created and implemented three specific SAP Notes to fix the issues. This resolution drastically improved system performance, reducing the time to complete asset history sheets from 6-8 hours to just 15 minutes and eliminating the need for manual work-arounds. This allowed FortisBC to achieve its goal of providing timely and confident financial reporting.
