A SAP Case Study
Fire & Rescue New South Wales, a state firefighting agency, faced significant inefficiency with 80 to 90 disparate processes and applications for managing its people and equipment. This fragmentation hindered interoperability with other emergency services and created operational waste. The agency selected SAP and its SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA platform to standardize its processes and create a single, robust source of truth for all operations.
The solution involved implementing a single instance of SAP Business Suite on the SAP HANA platform, replacing its Oracle database. The implementation was completed in 12 weeks primarily by the agency's own IT staff. The results were immediate, including a dramatically smaller database and reports that were generated in real-time instead of taking a day. SAP has enabled future-forward projects like real-time disaster risk prediction and more efficient resource deployment, ultimately helping the agency better protect the state.
