A SAP Case Study
The high-tech company VMware, known for pioneering cloud computing, sought to evolve from its startup roots while preserving its innovative spirit. Their challenge was to maintain agility and implement stable, scalable solutions for their customers by consolidating data from seven legacy warehouses and drastically improving slow data provisioning times. To address this, they partnered with vendor SAP to leverage the SAP HANA platform.
SAP implemented the SAP HANA platform, utilizing smart data integration and access to simplify VMware's IT landscape. The solution consolidated 15 terabytes of data into a single 6-terabyte database, reducing the total database size by 60%. Most significantly, SAP helped slash data provisioning time from 24 hours down to just 15 minutes, which greatly enhanced the end-user experience for 14,000 employees and delivered immediate savings in total cost of ownership.
