Enabling New IoT-Based Services for Manufacturing with SAP Cloud Platform
Mitsubishi Electric, a global leader in manufacturing electrical and electronic equipment, sought to provide its customers with smarter services for their factory automation devices. The challenge was to seamlessly connect data from the shop-floor level to customers' back-end business systems to enable advanced analytics and a more comprehensive view of manufacturing operations.
SAP addressed this challenge by implementing its SAP Cloud Platform Internet of Things service. This solution allowed Mitsubishi Electric to transfer preprocessed data from its automation platforms directly into customers' SAP systems. The results included better monitoring through data visualization, easier integration with back-end software, and higher asset availability for their joint customers, enabling new IoT-based services and more accurate forecasting.
