Case Study: Air India achieves finance transformation and operational efficiency with SAP

A SAP Case Study

Preview of the Air India Case Study

Embarking on a Finance Technology Transformation Journey - Revolutionizing Finance

Air India, one of India’s largest airlines, needed to modernize a legacy finance and IT landscape that had not been meaningfully updated for years, while also managing the added complexity of privatization and the merger with Vistara. Working with SAP and using RISE with SAP, Air India faced challenges around outdated systems, weak governance, limited automation, and a shortage of finance technology expertise.

SAP implemented a broad finance technology transformation spanning SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Ariba, OpenText VIM, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other SAP solutions to unify processes and support merger readiness. The results included 99.7% system availability, 30% lower database size, 70% better system performance, 40–50% faster report execution, 90%+ user adoption, 100% supplier registration compliance, and 25% faster purchase requisition-to-PO turnaround.
