A SAP Case Study
DSB, the Danish State Railways, serves 500,000 travelers a day across Denmark and was seeking to modernize maintenance operations across seven workshops. As it prepared for new rail infrastructure and electric trains, DSB needed to replace inconsistent, paper-based maintenance workflows and reduce the risks and inefficiencies tied to manual processes. SAP Service and Asset Manager and SAP Business Technology Platform were used to support this digital transformation.
SAP implemented a mobile maintenance solution that digitized paper processes, standardized workflows, and gave maintenance staff better control over tasks end to end. As a result, DSB reduced overhead costs and process delays, improved rolling-stock turnaround times, and increased staff efficiency and satisfaction. The project also improved reliability, contributing to fewer cancellations and delays, with measurable gains including a 10% reduction in inspection time and 1,300 kg of paperwork saved annually.
