Driving sales and operations planning excellence

SLB, the global oilfield services technology company, was looking to strengthen its sales and operations planning so it could better respond to customer demand, improve planning accuracy, and move away from manual, spreadsheet-based processes. As part of its digital transformation, SLB turned to SAP and the SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) solution to help harmonize global S&OP processes and align planning across its businesses.

SAP implemented SAP IBP to create a collaborative, integrated planning process with a consistent data model, as well as a reliable constrained supply network and production schedule. The results included 92% demand forecast accuracy, a 37% reduction in days inventory outstanding over three years, and inventory savings of more than US$1 billion over four years, while also improving customer service and reducing lead-time uncertainty.
